What do Children & Adolescence Mental Health Service’s do?

·         Promote the mental health and psychological wellbeing of children and young people

·         Provide high quality, multidisciplinary mental health services to all children and young people with mental health problems.

‘Just 4 Youth’ is working in partnership with Middlesbrough CAMHS and the Healthy Schools Initiative on a ‘Mental Health Awareness Campaign’ for students and teachers. This involves working with young people from the CAMHS and other young people to identify the best ways to raise the profile of emotional /mental health problems in a positive manner to young people to allow them to get help earlier and also to reduce the stigma sometimes associated with this. 

We are producing a DVD, made by young people, as a training resource for students and teachers. The Young People identified the DVD as a favourite approach to raising awareness. This will be shown in schools; college’s, youth centre etc and delivered with a workshop as part of PSHE lessons. The young people are producing a peer led lesson plan to support the DVD. The Young People have decided to name the campaign ‘What’s Up?’
