Since August 2008, Just 4 Youth has been running Peer Support programmes around Smoking cessation in Middlesbrough schools, having trained 4 young people to deliver the training to their peers. An evaluation of this programme will be available when it finishes at the end of March - look out for it on the site.
As a result of this programme, young people from Just 4 Youth have been commissioned by the PCT, to deliver the NHS's "To Hell with the Butt" programme across nine schools in Middlesbrough and Redcar & Cleveland between now and October 09.
At the same time, Just 4 Youth has also been commissioned by the PCT to underake research with young people as part of their TS3 Consultation - a project looking at smoking levels in the TS3 area of East Middlesbrough, which currently has one of the highest rates of smoking amongst young women.
